Gen Z Speaks Up – SZU Has a Say!

4AHITN, 5AHITN 2026/27

Shaping the future starts with listening to young people.

You can’t shape the future for young people without their involvement. On 12 October 2026, students from classes 4AHITN and 5AHITN at SZU put this principle into practice during a workshop organised by Youth Empowerment Participation, an initiative set up by Austria’s Federal Chancellery – the Chancellor’s central coordinating ministry – to help develop Austria’s youth strategy.

The objective of the workshop was to gather the input of school pupils to help develop the 24 new goals of the strategy. These are being formulated by the Federal Chancellery in cooperation with all government ministries. Through dynamic activities and lively discussions, students explored topics such as education, work and media, sharing their perspectives on the opportunities and challenges ahead for young people.

At the end of the workshop, students had the opportunity to take part in an online survey and contribute their views. YEP will present the findings from all the surveys completed by pupils from all school types in Austria to the Federal Chancellery in November 2026.

For our students, this was a chance to speak up, share their ideas, and help shape decisions that will affect their lives. Their futures need their voices – and SZU is very much part of the conversation!
